Goop!

Goop medium allows a painter to paint without any odor or toxic fumes as it contains no solvents of any kind.  It has the consistency of a thin "mayonnaise" and dries with a satin finish.  It can be rubbed on the canvas and painted into or added to the paint itself and used as a protective "polish" when the painting is dry . Also available with Mica for a pearly affect.

Goop is a miracle product, it is like penicillin, it does many things, aside from being 'a great oil painting medium' with no odor and no toxicity, it can be rubbed on wood, marble, stone or metal as a satiny protective finish.  You can also do Faux, Antique finishes and glazing since its perfectly clear & does not yellow. 

When using goop as a final protective finish, I would add about 15% balsam resin.  This process would give it a harder more durable surface and a little more luster.  Maybe 7 parts goop to 1 part balsam would be a starting formula.  Some people paint with this mix, the reason I don’t put it in when I sell it, is that it shortens the shelf life in storage, doesn’t stay “open” as long and changes the fluid painting consistency.

Upgrading the use of goop medium: For painting fat over lean start with marble dust in oil (a new product, same price as goop) it is leaner than goop, therefore quicker drying. Goop is more transparent as it contains no marble dust, but it is "juicier" and more refractive. For alla prima painting goop can be used alone, neither one has any solvent, odor or toxicity.
